Stucco & EIFS Pump

Stucco feels modern when you think of it, but this building material has quite a storied past. It has actually been in use since ancient Rome, where it was used as a surface for imaginative frescoes. However, it wasn’t until the 1820s that what we think of as stucco came into being. Beforehand, it was lime-based, then builders started using Portland cement, which made it harder and more reliable as a material. Stucco has been used in the making of homes ever since.

In the 1960s, exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS) were developed in Europe and by the end of the decade, the exterior finish had found its way to America. Due to the embargo on oil in the late 70s, there was a boom in interest for a substance that would insulate and preserve the cool or warm temperatures in the home. The use of EIFS has hardly slowed since.

In the past 200 years, technology has improved building styles with these materials by making the work more efficient, quicker to use, and longer-lasting. Part of that innovation comes from the evolution of the stucco & EIFS pump to make work that much faster and smoother. Here, we shed light on three of our favorite pumps to use when working with stucco and EIFS:

TouchTek S340E
Graco’s ToughTek series is known for being a small sprayer and still completing quite hefty jobs. That same philosophy continues in the S340E model. Here are some of the benefits of a stucco & EIFS pump:

  • Light-weight. This makes the pump easily portable, which means there’s no part of the job site that this pump can’t get to.
  • Easy to use. Not only is it light but it handles materials with a breeze. So, there’s no downtime for your team to learn a new machine.
  • 120V outlet. No need to go through the trouble of locating an adapter. This works with any standard wall outlet.

Aside from stucco or EIFS, this pump can also be used for repairing mortar.

30G
From Hyflex, this gas-powered pump comes in handy in regards to longevity and power due to the almost 2-gallon tank. It’s really more of an investment when you consider the range it has in addition to stucco and EIFS, such as bridge repair, slab jacking, manhole restoration, and more. Here are some of the highlights of the 30G:

  • Toggle switch controls. Some of the other pump brands have upgraded the technology on the controls to include a touchpad. This jacks up the price of the pump. The toggle switch is way easier in the midst of work, which is helpful for the person using it and the job itself.
  • Electric start. This pump comes with a Kohler gas 14hp electric start engine. There is no lag time here.
  • Seap pack. Top-notch industry quality bearings. The pack lasts a multitude of years and is the best on the market.

R2 DXE 19-400
The benefits of a stucco & EIFS pump is that it can be used for more projects, making it worth its while. The ones we have on this list all do that and we could not appreciate that feature more. In addition to being versatile and electric, the R2 DXE also comes with these highlights:

  • Narrow design. Looking to squeeze through tighter spots with your pump? This model fits through gaps as small as 30″ so you always get where you need to be.
  • Remote start. Gone are the days when you need to keep a hand on the stucco & EIFS pump. You can both start and stop remotely.
  • Variable speed pump drive. You have the ultimate control of the R2 DXE. The variable feature allows you to get to the specific pump speed desired.

Benefits of a stucco & EIFS Pump
There are a few legit benefits of using a stucco and EIFS pump. The first is that it allows the user to have a more steady finish. This means higher quality results. The pump itself is actually pretty easy to use, once you get the hang of it. Being quick to clean and simple to maintain makes using a pump superior to the classic hawk and trowel method.
